Cucumber has a cool, fresh feel that makes it a favorite in homemade skincare. In this post we share an easy cucumber face mask made with a little tea tree oil and our Aloe Vera Sea Moss Gel. It leaves skin feeling fresh, hydrated and soft.
Here are the simple steps.
Ingredients
Mix together in a small bowl:
- 1/4 tsp water
- 2 tsp cucumber powder, or 1/4 fresh cucumber, crushed
- 1 to 2 drops tea tree oil
- 1 tsp Aloe Vera Sea Moss Gel
Note: Powders can stain, so wear old clothing or a dark top. Tea tree oil is strong. We now suggest starting with just 1 or 2 drops.
How to Use It
Step 1: Stir 1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera Sea Moss Gel into the other ingredients until smooth.
Step 2: Start with clean skin. Wash your face and pat it dry with a clean towel.
Step 3: Smooth the mask over your face and neck and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4: Rinse with cool water and follow with your usual serum or moisturizer.
Once a week is a nice rhythm for this mask.
Why These Ingredients
- Cucumber gives the mask a cool, refreshing feel.
- Sea moss gel adds a smooth, hydrating texture.
- Tea tree oil brings a fresh, clean scent.
Most people notice skin that feels fresher, softer and more hydrated after rinsing.
Sea Moss in the Kitchen, Too
Sea moss is a red seaweed that naturally contains minerals such as iodine, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Our Aloe Vera Sea Moss Gel has a very mild taste, so it blends easily into smoothies, juices, tea, soups, sauces and baking, where it works as a natural thickener and a plant-based swap for gelatin.
A Few Simple Cautions
This mask is for external use only. Patch test a small amount on your inner arm first and wait 24 hours to make sure your skin is comfortable with it. Rinse right away and stop using it if you notice redness, itching or irritation. Keep it away from your eyes. If you have a skin condition, check with your dermatologist before trying new DIY skincare.
Make It Your Own
Once you find what your skin enjoys, feel free to adjust the blend. If you have questions or tips, share them in the comments. We would love to hear how your mask turned out.
