Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh beetroot instead of beetroot powder?
Yes. Method #2 above uses finely grated fresh beetroot. It works equally well and gives you a slightly more intensely coloured mask. The powder is more convenient and has a longer shelf life.

How often should I use a beetroot and honey face mask?
2–3 times per week is a good starting point for most skin types. If you have sensitive skin, start with once a week and increase as your skin adjusts.

Will beetroot stain my skin?
Temporarily, yes. Beetroot has a strong natural pigment. The colour washes off easily with cold water. As noted above, protect your clothing and surfaces while applying the mask.

Can I use this face mask on my hair?
Sea moss gel specifically has been used as a hair treatment for moisture and shine. The beetroot component is less suitable for hair due to potential staining. Stick to the skin for this particular mask.

Where can I get sea moss gel for this recipe?
